Bio

Mane Ferret's work is distinguished by the rigorous work of the texts of the songs and by the diversity of musical genres she uses to express herself: they are montuno, bolero, bolero-son, guajira, danzón, samba-Chá, trova song, blues song, for the exploitation of traditional tombs and guajiras. Since the mid-1970s she has been part of the Nueva Trova Cubana. She studies in Hispanic Philology, with the specialty Linguistics Hispanic at the Universidad de Oriente, Santiago de Cuba. Since 2000 she lives in Barcelona where she carries out an intense literary and artistic activity collaborating with names such as Muerdo or Amparo Sánchez. A singer, songwriter and poet born in Santiago de Cuba in 1961, she stands out for her impeccable work in the texts of her songs and for her ability to tackle an endless number of musical genres with a deeply personal stamp: montuno, bolero, guajira , danzón, samba-chá, trova, blues and, of course, the traditional "tumbaos" and guajiras.
